We made Radegast
the market’s most
consistent brand.

Life with Radegast has been bitter for 20+ years. Thank God!

Most beer brands talk about sunshine, easy days and good times with friends. Radegast takes on obstacles, cold weather and storms. Why does it work? Because we’ve stuck with it for the long haul. And a consistent brand is a strong brand. What was once
a forgotten local beer from the Beskydy region has become the number two beer brand in Czechia.

With a strong brand,
you can go against the grain.

A sharply defined brand

The theme of overcoming obstacles and
the iconic slogan “Life is bitter. Thank God.”
are backed by
a clear set of brand assets:
the statue of Radegast, signature music,
the sound of thunder, and imagery of rock.

Four times the turnover

We haven’t moved away from bitterness and overcoming obstacles – not in communication, and not in the product portfolio. And the brand keeps growing, even when the rest of the market stands still.

We keep evolving

Overcoming obstacles is still at the heart of the brand, but we’ve adapted it to a changing world. Physical challenges have gradually given way to mental ones.

A platform for creativity

Because the brand is so clearly defined,
we have huge creative freedom – from
highly crafted TV spots to online and offline activations, including the hockey-themed Radegast Index.

CSR and bold PR

We also launched the CSR campaign Fight for Water, supported by a TV spot, a dedicated website and a series of stunts: Vavřinec Hradilek kayaking down the Nusle Steps,
and camels walking through Prague.

A launchpad for new products

Consistency also helps when launching new products. For Ratar, a TV spot was followed by
an online game played by more than 40,000 people. Ratar quickly became the best-selling draught beer in its category.

The challenge

Radegast was closely tied to the Moravian-Silesian region. Beyond the statue of the pagan god – a tourist symbol of the Beskydy Mountains – it had little to make it stand out, and from a marketing perspective, no real concept behind it.

  • How do you lift a regional beer out of the Czech periphery?
  • How do you turn Radegast into a premium brand with international ambitions?
  • How do you stand out in a market crowded with brands from both major and craft breweries?

The solution

The answer was long-term, consistent brand-building and
a clear set of brand assets. That strong brand platform gave us room for equally strong creative work across multiple channels. And once the brand was solid, launching new products became much easier too.

  • We found the brand’s theme in overcoming obstacles.
  • We’ve stayed true to the theme, the slogan and the clearly defined brand assets for years.
  • Thanks to a strong brand and strong communication, Radegast is now the number two beer brand in Czechia, right behind Pilsner.

„No regulars, no bartender, no obvious jokes. With Boomerang behind Radegast's advertising, we ignore all the brewing clichés and build instead on a genuine man overcoming challenges in the rugged Beskydy Mountains. And it's precisely this, being different and staying true to it, that helped us grow from a regional brand into one of the largest players in the Czech and Slovak market.“
